St. Augustine Observer becomes South & Shores RESIDENT Newspaper
For years, the St. Augustine Observer has delivered local news, community updates and neighborhood information to residents in St. Augustine South and St. Augustine Shores. In 2026, the community newspaper was acquired by Social Magazines and renamed South & Shore RESIDENT.
The name and design are changing, but the publication will continue to focus on the people, places and stories that make these established St. Augustine neighborhoods feel connected.
The St. Augustine Observer became a familiar source of information for residents of St. Augustine South, St. Augustine Shores and the surrounding communities.
Mailed directly to local homes each month, the newspaper has shared news from neighborhood associations, local clubs, nonprofit organizations, schools, churches, businesses and community groups. It has also helped residents stay informed about local events and issues affecting the southern St. Augustine area.
In July 2026, Social Magazines acquired the St. Augustine Observer and its sister publication, the St. Augustine Beaches News Journal from the former publisher, Cliff Logsdon. The acquisition begins a new chapter for both newspapers while continuing their longstanding commitment to neighborhood-focused community news.
